The COVID-19 Conversation You Need to Have
While there’s never a good time to be admitted to the hospital, there’s an entirely new level of risk involved today. With hospitals serving as the frontline in the COVID-19 battle, a trip to the hospital right now not only increases the risk of exposure, it also takes critical responders away from COVID-19 care efforts.
Fortunately, hand sanitizer and face masks aren’t the only tools for preventing loved ones from a hospital stay during the COVID-19 outbreak. It’s time to consider an additional approach: fall prevention.
Each year, more than a million people in North America experience a fall. Almost half of those falls result in serious injury. Amongst older North Americans, falls account for 85 per cent of injury-related hospital stays. Preventing the seniors in our lives from becoming part of that 85 per cent is one of the most impactful things we can do right now to protect the ones we love from increased exposure to COVID-19.
Our partners at HealthCraft Products have been helping people live more safely in their homes for 25 years. During that time they've picked up a few tips and tricks along the way and have compiled an article to help you have a potentially life-saving conversation with the seniors you love.
